GUITAR LESSONS LIKE THEY SHOULD BE

This isn’t your standard guitar lesson where you have to start on acoustic and learn folk songs before you get to rock. With N10 Guitar Teacher, you can start off playing the music you love!

Even if you’ve never picked up a guitar, the first chord you play could be one that raises the roof of an arena in the future. Anything is possible, with your determination and a solid set of lessons from N10 Guitar Teacher, you could start a band and be recording and gigging with your mates in no time.

GUITAR IS REALLY FUN.

Whether you want to learn for fun and play your favourite songs, or be in a band and play in front of an audience, I can teach you how to find your own style and play the way you want.

However you want to play, I believe guitar should be fun, always, from coming to your lesson to practicing at home in between. The more you practice, the faster you start to see results. I believe in you – together we can make you the guitarist of your dreams!

STUDENTS USUALLY ASK ME…

Yes. To progress as a guitar player you will need to practice outside of the lessons. If you do not have one yet I can make some recommendations to help you decide on the right guitar for you. If you are learning electric guitar I would recommend you purchase a guitar amp also. This can be discussed in your free consultation.

No problem. I can structure the lessons around you. I want you to be excited about the songs you learn and the music we play together.

No problem here either. Learning Classical guitar can be a great way to start and grades can be a very useful learning tool whether you play classical, acoustic or electric guitar. I can also enter you into the examinations so you can rise through the grade system.

Cancellations - All cancellations must be made 24 hours prior to a lesson or you will lose your fee for that session. In some cases and if possible a remote session may be offered instead.

COVID 19 - If you have any Covid Symptoms (see below NHS link) please notify me as soon as possible and do not attend the lesson.

Good question but I’m afraid only you can answer that. I’ll give you the advice and tools to help you develop but you will have to put in the hard work. To be a good guitar player comes with it’s fair share of frustration, uncomfortable moments and sometimes pain but luckily learning guitar is also fun and the satisfaction you will get will outweigh everything else. I was a beginner once, I have experienced all those frustrations and therefore can help guide you from struggling beginner to greatness...with a lot of practice from you of course.

I can adapt to any modern style of music and as mentioned classical guitar lessons are fine also. My expertise does not lie in Jazz or folk music so if that’s your thing I would recommend checking out someone more suitable.

Currently I’m teaching beginner to intermediate levels. If you are already an advanced player please check out my youtube page to see if you think I can be of any help.

PARENTS USUALLY ASK ME…

Yes. I hold an advanced DBS certificate (last issued 19/01/22. I can share on request.

This is a common question from parents and understandably so. Yes parents can sit in on a lesson but I recommend maybe only doing this for the first lesson, or even just part of the first lesson, as it can be quite distracting for the student to have a parent in the room. We can discuss this further in the free consultation.

From my experience as a guitar teacher in Primary Schools I recommend starting around age 6.  At this early age choosing the right size of guitar is essential (generally ¼ or ½ size).  Keeping the lessons fun and exciting also helps. I recommend 30 minute sessions for the younger students.

I started playing on a classical guitar and then moved to electric. This approach worked for me but not every student is the same. It really does depend and in hindsight I feel that if your child has an interest in a particular style of music then it would make sense to make your choice based on that interest.
I feel Classical guitar is a good stepping-stone to steel-strung acoustic or electric guitar. Why? It creates good habits and good technique and in many ways the classical guitar is easier to play. It also goes without saying the student will learn basic theory with classical and that will keep the student in good stead for years to come.

Most importantly, what does your child want?

Don’t live in North London or don’t want a face-to-face? No problem, let's do it online.

If you have an internet connected device we should be okay to do the lesson remotely. I use a HD camera and connect both vocals & guitar directly to the computer so you won’t hear any annoying echoes.

Reviewing your lessons is easy as all resource materials used and a recording of the lesson will be provided online afterwards.

I prefer to use Zoom for my remote lessons. You can download the software here.

I offer lessons either at your home, my home or online. An extra £5 will be added to the price for visiting your home.

Lessons last for 1 hour.  I also offer 30 minutes lessons for very young students.

£40 per hour & £20 per half-hour (younger students only). An additional £5 will be added for all home visits.
